OBSA — Week 10 (Toddlers): Kinder Confidence
Our Big Summer Adventure · Week 10 · Toddlers (18 mo–2)

Week 10 — Kinder Confidence

Our very last week together — and for our littlest ones it's the gentlest, proudest one. "Getting ready for what's next" simply means noticing how big we've grown: putting on my own hat, finding my own spot, dropping a toy in the helper bin, feeding myself. Five warm, cozy, routine-led days of tiny "I did it!" wins and lots of "look how you've grown!" — building to a happy little Friday Big-Kid Clap, where each child gets a warm cheer and a handprint keepsake to carry home. No performing, no test — just proud, tender goodbyes to a whole big summer. August 3 – August 7 · Toddlers, ages 18 mo–2.

Read this first

This guide pairs with the General Planning Guide and applies Kinder Confidence to the Toddlers (18 mo–2) daily schedule — the shorter, gentler 13-block day. This is our last week of camp: a full 5-day week, Monday–Friday, August 3–7, no closures. For our littlest ones, "getting ready" isn't a project to build — it's how big I've grown: putting on my own hat, finding my own spot, dropping a toy in the helper bin, feeding myself. The comfort is the curriculum, so we keep the same cozy Big-Kid Corner, the same songs, and the same warm routines all week, and simply notice each tiny "I did it!" with a big "look how you've grown!" The gentle getting-ready moments live indoors, in our Big-Kid Corner, and the week ends with a low-key Friday in-room Big-Kid Clap — each child gets a warm cheer by name and a handprint keepsake. No guest, no field trip, no parents invited, no performing, no visiting other rooms — Brightwheel photos carry it home. Everything little hands touch is large and mouth-safe. Start with the prep block, then run the five days.

🌟
Our Big-Kid Clap — Friday, August 7, right here in our room. A happy, in-room celebration of how much our littlest ones have grown this summer: each child gets a warm cheer by name — "look how you've grown!" — a big clap, and a "Look How I've Grown" handprint keepsake to carry home. It's a celebration, not a performance — a wave, a grin, or a snuggle is plenty, and every child is celebrated. In-house: our own teacher and classmates are the crowd — no parents invited, no cross-room visiting. It folds into Friday's Big-Kid Corner block (8:50–9:30) — the day plan spells it out. Photo-friendly and low-lift; Brightwheel photos carry it home.
Section 1 · The Overview

Week Snapshot

Theme
Kinder Confidence, scaled all the way down to "look how you've grown" — tiny independence wins, care-and-comfort forward.
The "anchor"
A gentle daily Big-Kid Corner — a cozy getting-ready nook (my own basket, a "my spot" rug, a hat basket, a helper bin) that grows a little across the week, toward a low-key Friday in-room Big-Kid Clap, where each child gets a warm cheer and a handprint keepsake.
Classroom
Toddlers · ages 18 mo–2 · the shorter 13-block day
Dates
August 3 – August 7, 2026 (Monday–Friday). Full 5-day week, no closures · the last week of camp
Parent-facing hook
"This week our littlest ones showed us how big they've grown — putting on their own hats, finding their own spots, and feeding themselves. On Friday we cheered every child at our in-room Big-Kid Clap and sent home a handprint keepsake. What a summer!"
Developmental value
Growing independence and self-help (hats, cups, spoons, "my spot"), comfort and security through familiar routines, warm narration of each new "I did it!", and the confidence and pride of being noticed for how much they've grown.
Logistics
In-house all week, no guest, no field trip · Phase: gentle wind-down + proud finale · Cost: consumables (a few keepsake pages, corner materials) · Ops complexity: Low (indoor anchor; the Big-Kid Clap stays in-room). The last week — hold space for tender goodbyes.
EF lens this week
Working Memory  Just barely beginning at this age. For a toddler, "what comes next?" is only starting to stir — finding my own spot, remembering where my basket is. We simply notice it and smile, never drill. Said very lightly all week: "I can do it — what comes next?"
Section 2 · Start Here

Before You Run the Week

How this guide works, a soft note on the week's skill, what to prep, and what to have on hand. Read these first; the five days follow.

How to use this guide. Each day below is the full run-sheet — every block of the toddler day, in order, so you can print one day and run it from the page. The toddler day is short and gentle (13 blocks), and handwashing is folded into the named blocks.

This is our last week — a full 5-day week. Monday–Friday, no closures. The gentle "getting ready" moments live indoors, in our cozy Big-Kid Corner (8:50–9:30), and Friday is our in-room Big-Kid Clap — our own teacher and classmates cheering. No guest, no parents invited, and no cross-class visiting; the Brightwheel photos are how it travels home.

The 📸 Brightwheel moment is built in. Look for the warm camera callout inside each day — it sits on the Big-Kid Corner block, with the shot to grab and a ready-to-post caption. Proud "I did it myself" faces are the summer's most heart-melting photos.

Keep it warm and repeated. Toddlers thrive on sameness — the same corner, the same songs, the same routines, day after day. That repetition is the curriculum, and it's exactly what makes each tiny new "I did it!" feel safe and proud.

A gentle word on the last week. This is the final week of the summer — warm, tender, a little bittersweet. Leave room for goodbyes, notice out loud how far each little one has come, and let the week feel like a soft, cozy send-off.

Printing. Use your browser's Print — each day breaks cleanly onto its own sheet.

Section 3 · The Lens

This Week's EF Lens — a Soft Note

"What comes next?" is just barely beginning

The camp's lens this week is Working Memory — the brain's ability to hold a little in mind and use it, to keep the next step of a routine "live." At 18 months to 2 years this is only just starting to stir, and that's exactly right. You never drill it and you never quiz it. For a toddler, working memory looks tiny and warm: toddling to my own spot, remembering where my basket is, reaching for my own hat because that's what comes next before we go outside. Your whole job is the light one — notice it, name it warmly, and smile: "you remembered your spot!" That's plenty.

Mostly, this is a week of comfort, routine, and pride. Keep the same cozy corner and the same gentle rhythm, and let the sameness soothe. The little seed of "what comes next?" grows all on its own inside that warm, repeated routine — you don't have to teach it, just enjoy it when it peeks out and cheer how big they've grown.

Gentle things to notice (and smile at)

  • Toddles to "my spot" or "my basket" and remembers where it is.
  • Reaches for their own hat or cup because that's what comes next in the routine.
  • Does a tiny step by themselves — one they needed help with back in June.
Section 4 · Prep

Before the Week

Simple setup for a warm, cozy, proud week. Get these ready over the weekend or Monday morning — the Big-Kid Corner and the keepsake pages especially.

Set up the Big-Kid Corner
A cozy getting-ready nook — a low basket ("my cubby"), a soft "my spot" rug or carpet squares, a hat basket, and a helper bin. It grows a little each day and it's where the anchor lives. Make it feel cozy and grown-up.
Label "my spot" & "my basket"
A carpet square and a low basket for each child, tagged with their name and photo. Finding "my spot" is a real big-kid routine and the week's gentlest working-memory seed — keep it low-key and joyful.
Gather "look how you've grown" bits
A then-and-now photo, a June handprint to compare, a growth mark on the wall — simple ways to show each little one how big they've gotten this summer. Warm and visual.
Set up tiny self-help stations
Soft hats to pop on, easy cups and spoons for self-feeding, a helper bin to drop toys into. Low, reachable, and satisfying — the tiny independence wins children practice all week. Large and mouth-safe only.
Prep the handprint keepsake pages
One "Look How I've Grown" page per child (name + room for a handprint and a photo). Children make theirs Thursday and take them home Friday at the Big-Kid Clap — the warm keepsake of the whole summer.
Pick the week's gentle songs
A few "big kid" / grow-up songs and finger-plays to sing every day — the same ones, repeated. That sameness is the comfort. Have the words handy so anyone can lead.
Gather "big kid" board books
A few soft, simple board books about growing up and doing things myself. Keep them in a low basket the little ones can reach; read the same favorites again and again.
Plan Friday's clap & heat plan
Keep Friday's Big-Kid Clap in-room and low-key — a warm cheer and a keepsake per child, no performing. And the anchor is indoors, but children still go out in the cool morning window — hats, shade, water, and an indoor fallback on a hot August day.
Section 5 · Supplies

Supplies — Check & Request

Scan against what's in the room; send shortfalls to Amy early. on hand means it's already here; Fri means it's for the Big-Kid Clap. Everything in little hands must be large and mouth-safe — no small parts, no ties, and no tasting.

Section 6 · The Week

Five Cozy Days That Build to the Big-Kid Clap

A gentle, growing arc. The same cozy Big-Kid Corner returns every day and gathers a little more: first we notice how big we've grown, then we find our own spot, then we do tiny things ourselves, then we help and make a keepsake — until Friday, when every child gets a warm cheer at our in-room Big-Kid Clap.

Section 7 · The Skeleton

The Daily Rhythm

The toddler day is short and predictable — 13 blocks, carried in full in each day plan below. Four are fixed: morning snack, lunch, nap, afternoon snack.

A note on the getting-ready moments and the day. This week's gentle anchor lives indoors, in the Big-Kid Corner during Guided Centers (8:50–9:30) — so it's cozy and shielded from the August heat. The morning Outdoor Play (9:50–10:30) stays in the cool window and light — a proud "big kid" toddle, not a themed lesson — and the afternoon Outdoor Play (3:30–4:15) is hotter, so keep it shaded and easy. Everything rides on repetition — the same corner, the same songs, the same warm routines — because for our littlest ones, that sameness is the comfort and the curriculum. One Big-Kid Corner, returned to every day, is what makes Friday's Big-Kid Clap feel familiar and happy.
Section 8 · The Plans

Five Days, Fully Planned

Each day is the full 13-block run-sheet. The 📸 Brightwheel moment and the day's one 🏃 Teacher Move sit on the indoor Big-Kid Corner block.

Day1
Monday · August 3
Look How I've Grown
A cozy start to our last week — notice how big we've grown this summer, and open our gentle Big-Kid Corner.
6:30–8:00

Early arrivals, free play (combined). Soft, quiet welcome with the other little ones. Stay close — circulate, narrate, and trade smiles.

8:00–8:30
Settle In · Table Toys

Gentle table toys as everyone arrives. A soft board book and a cuddly friend out to discover. Warm greetings, calm bodies, a soft start to a special week.

8:30–8:50
Opening Circle · Hello, Big Kids!

A short hello song, then a warm "look how BIG you've grown this summer!" Hold up a then-and-now photo or measure a hand against June's. Say our gentle words lightly: "I can do it!" Keep it tiny and cozy — this is a happy, proud last week, never a test.

8:50–9:30
Guided Centers · Our Big-Kid Corner Opens (anchor)

Open the cozy Big-Kid Corner together — a low basket ("my basket"), a soft "my spot" rug, a hat basket. Explore it lap-close, naming things: "this can be your spot!" Then a simple print craft — press a dot-paint handprint onto a big "Look How I've Grown" page for our wall. Slow and warm; hand-over-hand for anyone who wants it. A teacher-shaped center — stay in the game with each child. (Indoors, cozy, out of the heat.)

Materials — the Big-Kid Corner (basket, mat, hats), a big wall page, washable dot paint, a then-and-now photo.

🏃 Teacher Move · Name how they've grown, out loud
The whole week rides on being noticed. Say the specific little thing — "In June I carried you in; now you toddle to your own spot!" — warmly and often. A toddler doesn't need to perform; they just need a grown-up to delight in how big they've gotten. Warm, specific noticing is the gift families carry home from the whole summer.
📸 Brightwheel moment

🌟 Our last week has begun! Today our littlest ones opened our cozy Big-Kid Corner and pressed their handprints onto our "Look How I've Grown" wall. Look how big they've gotten this summer! Ask me to show you my spot.

Early arrivals, free play (combined). Soft, quiet welcome. Stay close — circulate and trade smiles.

8:00–8:30
Settle In · Table Toys

Calm table toys as everyone arrives. The name-and-photo spot tags are out, ready to find.

8:30–8:50

Show the little carpet squares and baskets with each child's name and photo. "Can you find YOUR spot? There's your face!" Toddle to it together, happy and slow. Say our gentle words lightly: "what comes next? … my spot!" Keep it tiny and warm.

8:50–9:30
Guided Centers · My Spot & My Basket (anchor)

In the Big-Kid Corner, each child finds their own spot and basket (name + photo tags help). Gentle practice: put my lovey in my basket, sit on my spot for a song, find it again after a wander. A simple craft too — decorate my basket tag with dot-paint. Slow and cozy; celebrate every "you found it!" A teacher-shaped center — stay in it with each child.

Materials — name + photo tags, baskets, "my spot" mats, dot-paint, a lovey from home if they have one.

✦ A first seed of working memory — toddling back to "my spot" and remembering where "my basket" is holds a little plan in mind — the earliest stir of "what comes next?" Nothing to teach; just notice it and smile: "you remembered your spot!"
🏃 Teacher Move · Make "my spot" a warm little win
Keep it low-pressure and joyful — a photo tag does the remembering for them. When a child toddles to their own spot, light up: "you found it all by yourself!" If they land on someone else's, no fuss — walk them over warmly. The point isn't getting it right; it's the cozy pride of having a place that's mine.
📸 Brightwheel moment
Shot: a toddler settling onto their very own "my spot" mat, or tucking a lovey into their named basket, proud as can be.
🧺 Today we found "my spot" and "my basket"! Our littlest ones toddled right to their own cozy places and tucked their loveys in. Having a spot that's all mine is a big, big deal. Look how grown-up they're getting!

Music & Movement · Grow-Up Songs

The same gentle "big kid" song as yesterday — "This Is the Way," a slow "If You're Happy." Repeat the familiar one two or three times; sway and clap. Sameness is the comfort.

8:50–9:30
Guided Centers · I Can Do It Myself (anchor)

In the Big-Kid Corner, gentle self-help stations: pop on my own hat at the mirror, drop toys in the helper bin, scoop and pour at a little tray, try on-and-off a soft shoe. Offer, cheer, and let them try — a small success is a big deal. A simple craft too: press a "helping hands" print. Warm and unhurried. A teacher-shaped center — stay in it with each child.

Materials — hats, a child-safe mirror, helper bin, soft shoes, a scoop-and-pour tray, dot-paint.

🏃 Teacher Move · Offer the try, then wait
The magic is in the little pause. Set it up so success is easy — a floppy hat, a big bin — then hand it over and wait. Resist doing it for them; the point is the proud "I did it!" on their own face. If they'd rather you help, that's fine too — offer, never insist, and cheer whatever they try.
📸 Brightwheel moment
Shot: a toddler popping their own hat on at the mirror, or proudly dropping a toy in the helper bin — that "I did it!" grin.
🧢 "I can do it MYSELF!" Today our little ones popped on their own hats, dropped toys in the helper bin, and scooped and poured all by themselves. Those tiny wins are enormous. So much growing has happened this summer!

8:50–9:30
Guided Centers · "Look How I've Grown" Keepsake (anchor · the make)

In the Big-Kid Corner, each child makes their take-home "Look How I've Grown" keepsake — press a handprint (a grown-up helps), add a dot-paint decoration and a photo. As we make it, softly recall the summer: "remember when you needed help with your cup? Now you do it yourself!" Set the keepsakes aside for tomorrow. Warm and unhurried. A teacher-shaped center — stay in it with each child.

Materials — keepsake pages, washable stamp pads, dot-paint, big stickers, a photo of each child.

🏃 Teacher Move · Recall a specific "then and now"
As each handprint goes down, name one real thing that's grown — "in June you were carried in; now you walk to your own spot." Specific beats generic every time. These little "then and now" lines are what melt a parent's heart, and they turn the keepsake from a craft into a memory of the whole summer.

Hello song, then a warm heads-up: "today we cheer for every big kid — that's YOU!" Look at our "Look How I've Grown" wall together. Practice one big clap and a "hooray!" Keep it tiny and warm.

8:50–9:30
Guided Centers · OUR BIG-KID CLAP (anchor · in-room · the payoff)

The happy little moment — right here in our own cozy Big-Kid Corner, with our own teacher and classmates as the warm audience. No parents invited, no performing, no visiting other rooms; the Brightwheel photos carry it home. One at a time — or all together, whatever's comfy — call each child's name, cheer "look how you've grown!", give a big clap, and hand them their "Look How I've Grown" handprint keepsake. A wave, a grin, or a snuggle is plenty; a child who'd rather watch is celebrating too. Warm and short. A teacher-shaped center — stay right in it, tender and proud.

How the clap runs, gently: (1) Gather friends as the happy cheering circle. (2) Call one child (or a couple) by name. (3) Cheer "look how you've grown!" and give a big clap. (4) Hand over their keepsake and snap a photo. (5) Keep it short and calm — every single child gets their warm moment.

Materials — the Big-Kid Corner, the handprint keepsakes, the "Look How I've Grown" wall, a soft song, a camera.

🏃 Teacher Move · Cheer every child, and let it be tender
The child who beams and claps and the child who just snuggles into your lap are exactly equal today. Name one real thing each has grown into — "in June you needed help; now you do it yourself" — and give the shy one the same warm spotlight as the big waver. Let the bittersweet be real; a lump in your throat is allowed. Warm, specific pride is the gift these families carry home from the whole summer.
