Week 4 — The Treasure Hunt
A gentle pirate week — hats, sand, and digging for gold — that ends with a happy little Treasure Dig where every Little fills their own cup. June 22–26 · Littles classroom, ages 2–3.5.
This guide pairs with the General Planning Guide and applies Pirates to the Littles (2–3.5) daily schedule. Littles are parallel players, so this week is gentle and sensory — each Little digs for their own gold (no shared map or group hunt), and Friday is a happy little Treasure Dig, not a big production. The pirate fun carries it; the self-control is a light, joyful "wait for GO!" Remember the morning order: Outdoor → Circle → handwash → Snack. Start with the prep block below, then run the days.
Week Snapshot
Before You Run the Week
How this guide works, the (very light) skill we're watching for, what to prep, and what to have on hand. Read these first; the five days follow.
How to use this guide. Each day below is the full run-sheet — every block of the Littles schedule, in order, so you can print one day and run it from the page. Transition and fixed blocks are kept brief; the flex blocks carry the detail.
The 📸 Brightwheel moments are built in. Look for the warm camera callout inside each day — it sits on the block where the photo happens, with the shot to grab and a ready-to-post caption.
New morning order. Littles come in from Outdoor Play to Circle Time (8:50–9:00), then handwash (9:00–9:15), then Morning Snack (9:15–9:35). Circle first, snack after.
Crafts. Five simple pirate crafts anchor the Craft / Tables block — Pirate Hats, a Pirate Flag, Glittery Gold, Decorate-My-Cup, and Pirate Dot Paint. Keep them sensory and loose; finished products don't matter.
Printing. Use your browser's Print — each day breaks cleanly onto its own sheet.
This Week's EF Lens — Inhibitory Control (gently)
Wait for "GO!"
For a 2- or 3-year-old, self-control is brand new and tiny. It looks like holding still for one second when you say "ready… GO!", freezing in a freeze game, or waiting a beat for a turn before diving into the sand. That's the whole goal — we are not running self-control lessons.
Your job is to make waiting a game and then smile. A bright "ready… GO!" with a clear, quick finish is perfect for this age — the wait is one breath, not one minute. Celebrate the freeze warmly: "You waited! Good pirate!" Keep it joyful, short, and repeated.
Watch for it when a Little…
- Holds still — even for a second — when you say "wait for GO!"
- Freezes (mostly!) in a pirate freeze game.
- Waits a beat for their turn at the sand before digging.
Before the Week
A little setup over the weekend or Monday morning makes a gentle week.

The Week Builds Toward Friday
A gentle, sensory arc — become pirates, dig for gold, play the wait-for-GO game, make a treasure cup, then a happy Treasure Dig. No shared project; each Little plays their own way.
The Daily Rhythm
Every day runs the identical clock, carried in full in each day plan below. Four blocks are fixed — snack, lunch, nap, afternoon snack. Everything else is flex.
Five Days, Fully Planned
Each day is the full run-sheet — every block of the Littles schedule, in order. The 📸 Brightwheel moment is tucked into the block where it happens.
Combined arrival care. All classrooms together — soft play and books until the Littles room opens.
Outdoor Play · Pirate Sand Play (anchor)
Sunscreen and hats at the door, then sandy pirate play — dig, scoop, fill. Partway through, "find" a few shiny gold coins you tucked in the sand. Let the delight bubble up: there's treasure in here! No hunt today — just the happy discovery.
Materials — sandbox, scoops, a few doubloons pre-hidden, dry wipes.
